Abersoch Bravery
In October the year 2000
As the night had fallen black
A girl of fourteen and her dog
Still had not come back
Her cries were sounding along the shore
West of Port Ceriad Bay
But driving rain and roaring wind
And darkness drove away
Everyone who endeavoured to help
Then out came the lifeboat crew
A helicopter overhead
And then - between the two
A searchlight picked up the dogs bright eyes
The girl and the dog were still
Trapped on a ledge with a rising tide
One hour and it would kill
Surf broke around a dangerous reef
Simon swam in with a line
The lifeboat slid in and picked up the girl
She and the dog were fine
No more than this - no less than this
The Abersoch lifeboat crew
They saved two lives on a cold dark night
As they set out to do
